From Egypt to Washington

A Journey of Knowledge, Civilization, and Dialogue

Behind Every Achievement Is a Story Worth Telling

For nearly forty years, I have been telling people the stories of cities and civilizations. I have accompanied visitors on journeys through history and helped them understand the meanings, lessons, and human memories preserved in monuments, museums, archaeological sites, and historic landmarks.

Whenever I stood before a historic building, a memorial, the walls of an ancient temple, or the exhibits of a museum, I never saw merely silent stones or artifacts. I saw entire lives. I saw dreams, struggles, victories, failures, and human experiences that deserved to be remembered, understood, and passed from one generation to another.

Over the years, however, I came to realize that the most important stories are not found only on temple walls, written in books, or displayed behind museum glass. Some of the greatest stories are alive among us today.

They live in the memory of a scholar who has devoted a lifetime to research and education. They live in the experience of a thinker who has tried to understand the world from a new perspective. They live in the journey of an innovator who overcame obstacles to achieve success. They live in the voice of a media professional who witnessed the transformation of journalism and communication. They live in the experience of an entrepreneur who began with a modest dream and, through hard work, patience, and perseverance, transformed that dream into a meaningful achievement.

Behind every person we consider successful today are years of effort, moments of uncertainty, stages of learning, difficult decisions, personal sacrifices, and challenges that the public may never see. People see the final result, but they rarely know the complete story.

That realization inspired the creation of The Dr. Ali Zohery Podcast. I did not want to produce just another program adding more noise to a world already crowded with voices. I wanted to create a meaningful space for thoughtful dialogue, serious knowledge, authentic human experience, and conversations that respect both the mind and the dignity of the audience.

I wanted to ask my guests not only, “What have you accomplished?” but also: How did you begin? What challenges did you face? Who believed in you and helped you along the way? What moments changed the direction of your life? What did you learn from your difficulties and disappointments? What advice would you offer to the next generation? And how can your knowledge and experience benefit Egypt, the Arab world, the United States, and humanity?

The purpose of this podcast is not simply to present titles, positions, awards, and accomplishments. Its purpose is to discover the person behind each title, the struggle behind each achievement, the lesson behind each experience, and the message that can remain with us long after the conversation has ended.

The Journey Began in Egypt

My journey with history and civilization began in Egypt—a land where nearly every region contains a chapter of the human story. Through my studies in archaeology and Egyptology at Cairo University, I learned that the greatness of a civilization is not measured only by the size of its monuments or the magnificence of its buildings. It is also measured by the values, knowledge, arts, ideas, and institutions it contributes to humanity.

Egypt taught me that the past is not a distant or lifeless world. It remains part of our identity, our collective memory, our understanding of the present, and our vision for the future. The study of archaeology taught me to search beyond what is immediately visible—to look for the human story hidden behind inscriptions, monuments, objects, documents, buildings, and historic events.

That perspective accompanied me when my journey eventually brought me to the United States. I moved from the study of archaeology and history into the fields of tourism, international management, media, communication, leadership, and ethics. I never viewed these areas as disconnected disciplines. I saw them as different paths leading toward one central purpose: understanding people, communicating with them, preserving their experiences, and bringing societies and cultures closer together.

My professional journey also gave me the privilege of serving as a Former Adjunct Professor of Hospitality at Strayer University’s Washington, D.C. campus. In that role, I was able to share my practical experience in tourism and hospitality with students preparing for their own professional journeys. Teaching hospitality allowed me to bring together academic knowledge, professional experience, entrepreneurship, tourism management, and human communication. It also strengthened my conviction that education is not simply the transfer of information—true education helps students develop confidence, professional ethics, leadership, and the ability to serve people from different cultural and social backgrounds.

Washington: Another City That Tells History

In Washington, D.C., I once again found myself in a city whose landmarks speak the language of history. From the United States Capitol to the White House, from the Lincoln Memorial to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, and from the National Museum of African American History and Culture to the museums of the Smithsonian Institution, the city carries powerful stories of leadership, liberty, conflict, sacrifice, justice, democracy, and hope.

For nearly four decades, my work in tourism, hospitality, education, and tour guiding has enabled me to meet people from different countries, cultures, professions, and backgrounds. I did not want merely to provide visitors with names, dates, and information about buildings. I wanted to create a human dialogue connecting the past with the present, Egypt with America, and ancient civilizations with the questions and challenges facing people today.

The monuments of Washington are not simply tourist attractions. They represent ideas, struggles, debates, sacrifices, and defining moments in the history of the United States and the world. Likewise, the monuments of Egypt are not merely remains of an ancient past. They represent humanity’s search for knowledge, order, identity, spirituality, justice, continuity, and immortality. Tourism and hospitality can become forms of education, cultural exchange, international communication, and mutual understanding.

From Tour Guiding to Human Dialogue

Throughout my professional life, I have told the stories of kings, presidents, national leaders, reformers, scholars, social movements, and historic events. Today, through this podcast, I want to contribute to documenting the stories of scholars, thinkers, professors, historians, archaeologists, media professionals, entrepreneurs, artists, writers, immigrants, community leaders, and people whose experiences can inspire others.

Many of these individuals have spent decades serving their fields and communities. Yet much of their knowledge and experience has never been fully documented or shared with the wider public. If we do not listen to them today, we may lose a valuable part of our intellectual, cultural, professional, and human memory tomorrow. For that reason, The Dr. Ali Zohery Podcast is also a project dedicated to preserving memory and transferring knowledge and experience from one generation to the next.

The podcast reflects the spirit of my own journey. It stands at the meeting point between Egypt and Washington, East and West, history and the future, national identity and global human experience. Egypt represents my roots, my education, my identity, my cultural memory, and my responsibility. Washington is not merely the location from which the podcast is presented—it is an international window and a meeting place for nations, cultures, institutions, ideas, and experiences.

What the Audience Will Discover

Through this podcast, viewers will encounter meaningful conversations with people whose lives reflect genuine knowledge, experience, achievement, service, and perseverance. We will explore history, archaeology, and civilization. We will discuss media, communication, culture, and identity. We will examine tourism, hospitality, museums, and heritage preservation. We will reflect on leadership, ethics, education, and human communication, and we will also address artificial intelligence, digital media, social change, and the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of individuals and societies.

A guest may be a distinguished scholar, a professor who devoted decades to education, an entrepreneur who built something valuable from the ground up, an artist or writer who transformed personal experience into creativity, a media professional who witnessed historic events, or an ordinary person with an extraordinary story. The value of a story is not measured by the fame of the person telling it—its true value is measured by its honesty, wisdom, relevance, and ability to make a positive difference in another person’s life.

Our Mission

From Egypt to Washington, and from Washington to the world: knowledge deserves to be shared. Civilization deserves to be understood. History deserves to be preserved. Experience deserves to be passed forward. And sincere dialogue can bring minds, hearts, cultures, and communities closer together.

Cities have their stories. Civilizations have their memories. Museums preserve humanity’s achievements. Universities pass knowledge from one generation to another. But the human being remains the greatest story of all. Behind every scholar is a journey. Behind every innovator is a challenge. Behind every successful person are years of work, sacrifice, and perseverance. And behind every achievement is a story worth telling.
